The War Zone

Here is the update of our backyard project in pictures.

Cheryl came up on Thursday to deliver a wheelbarrow and to help out (if it weren't for her and the contractor our neighbor hired to put in the back fence, Eric and I would probably still be out there trying to figure out how to start the retaining wall and make it level). She and Dave and the kids came up tonight, will come back tomorrow to help yet again, then Sunday we're having dinner with them and Kim and Dave. What fun!

Here's just one pile of the rock we received in the last couple of days.

Here are some of the piles of pavers and retaining wall block that Eric ordered.

Here's a view of our trench. The guy on the phone is Jeremy, our friend who ran the backhoe we rented and who has been invaluable. He even ran over to our house when he saw the rock being delivered because he knew we weren't home. Good thing he did too, because the guy wouldn't have unloaded it.

Eric tamping down the trench before we lay the foundation layer.

This is one of my favorite pictures. Caelan is putting rocks into the wheelbarrow. We have enough that this could be his full-time occupation until he left on his mission. Whew.

Here are some more pictures of how Caelan is enjoying our project-ing.
